Afternoon Lecture with James Maffie

Please join us for an afternoon lecture with Professor James Maffie as he presents "Understanding the Nature of Change in the Aztec Cosmos."

James Maffie is visiting associate professor in the Department of Philosophy who specializes in contact-era Nahua (Aztec) philosophy. He is the author of Aztec Philosophy: Understanding a World In Motion ( Colorado University Press, 2014) . He studied Nahuatl in Zacatecas and in the Huasteca region of Mexico.  His talk will focus on the ways in which Aztec thinkers sought to understand change through interpretation of cosmic polarities and patterns.
