New Trends in the Political History of the Great Saljuqs (Iran, 11th-12th Centuries)

Please join us for lunch conversation with David Durand-Guédy. He will discuss new developments and fresh directions in Saljuq history. This talk is based on his forthcoming article “New Trends in the Political History of the Great Saljuqs (Iran, 11th-12th Centuries),” to be published soon in History Compass.


Dr. Durand-Guédy (research affiliate at the French Institute in Iran, Tehran) is a specialist of medieval Iran and Central Asia. He has worked extensively on the Saljuq period, on Isfahan, and on Arabic and Persian historical writing, literature, and poetry. He is the author of Iranian Elites and Turkish Rulers: A History of Iṣfahān in the Saljūq Period (Brill: 2010) and has edited several volumes including Turko-Mongol Rulers, Cities and City Life (Brill: 2013).
