You are cordially invited to attend the Department of History's Spring commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.  This is different from the campus ceremony at Comcast Center. At the History Department ceremony, we recognize each graduate individually.

Graduates:

There is no limit on the number of guests a graduate may bring; no tickets or rsvp necessary.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. and is scheduled for approximately 90 minutes.

Graduates are required to wear regalia in order to participate in the ceremony.

Graduates participating in the ceremony should report for robing and final instructions to the West Chapel (small chapel behind the main chapel; the garden entrance directly across from Lot Y) at 1:15 p.m. 

If you need an interpreter for the deaf and hearing impaired or wish other special assistance you may contact Disability Support Services at 301-314-7682.

Important Note Concerning the Chapel: The use of noise makers, streamers, or any other type of celebratory object is strictly prohibited inside of the Chapel.  No food or drink is allowed in the Main or West Chapel.

Chapel Accessibility: The Main Chapel has a handicapped entry located on the side of the Chapel (Chapel Drive entrance) and the West Chapel is accessible from the Chapel Drive entrance or the Lot Y entrance. All doorways and bathrooms on the ground floor are wheelchair accessible. Handicapped parking spaces are available near the Chapel.


Parking:


Parking is FREE on Commencement Days (both for the campus-wide ceremony and for the individual ceremonies).  Shuttle service will be available to and from the College Park Metro Station.  For the department ceremony, parking is available at Regents Drive Garage, and a shuttle to the Chapel will be available if needed.  Disabled parking will be available near the Chapel (Lot Y) in designated spaces.  If you require accessible transportation for a disabled guest the day of commencement, please make arrangements by calling dispatch services at 301-314-0318.  If you have parking questions, please call 301-314-PARK.
