A Witnessing To History

David C. Driskell Center for the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora | History Thursday, February 13, 2014 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm David C. Driskell Center,

Distinguished University Professors Ira Berlin and David C. Driskell will engage in a historic discussion about major U.S. and international events that have had a defining impact on our way of life and destiny, as a culture and as a country. Each will offer personal reflections on historic events related to politics, race relations, cultural movements and civil liberties that have transformed social and human progress over the past five decades. The discussion is sure to cover major events such as the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act and more.


The event is a collaborative effort across the University of Maryland with an introduction by UMD President Wallace Loh. The conversation will be moderated by Curlee Holton, Professor and Interim Executive Director the David C. Driskell Center.
