Junior history major Julian Ragland is the creative force behind the local electric dance music blog and promotion company Electric Squeeze.

You can learn how to DJ, but you can’t learn the passion junior history major Julian Ragland has for his music and his machines.

Ragland, the creative force behind the local electric dance music blog and promotion company Electric Squeeze, has made more than $6,000 since the fall, enough to pay for new equipment and still pad his bank account. Ragland’s seven DJs play frequently at The Barking Dog and Looney’s, and their shows have attracted more than 500 people.

But Ragland said it hasn’t been easy. Just like the relationship he built with his machines when he taught himself to DJ, cultivating a business has come slowly.
