Kosicki Interviewed By The Associated Press

Professor Kosicki has discussed the roles of the Catholic Church and Pope Francis in Poland in an interview with the Associated Press

Professor Kosicki was featured in an article by the Associated Press which discussed Pope Francis’s support for migrants, an attitude that the vast majority of Polish Catholics finds impossible to understand.

The AP interviewed Kosicki as a follow-up on his recent commissioned article in the magazine COMMONWEAL, available here. In it he considers Poland's recent reversion to pre-World War II models of extreme nationalism -- including, among others, by the highest officers of the Catholic Church.

In his interview with the AP, Kosicki explains that, to Catholics in Poland, Pope Francis's statements are unintelligible. The country remains locked into a cult of the late Polish pope, John Paul II, that blocks any serious engagement with new developments in the wider global Church.

The interview is available online on the Associated Press’s website.

Update: Professor Kosicki has now also been interviewed by National Public Radio (NPR), which can be found here.
