Sabrina Gonzalez Receives 2017-18 International Graduate Research Fellowship

History Ph.D. student will conduct research in Argentina.

History Ph.D. student Sabrina González has received a 2017-18 International Graduate Research Fellowship. González graduated from Universidad Nacional de La Matanza, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a B.A. in social communication. In her ongoing research, she analyzes anarchist education at the beginning of the twentieth century in Buenos Aires. Interested in education and social movements from her experience as an activist, Sabrina came to the University of Maryland to work towards a PhD in Latin American History. González will spend her fellowship year in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Instituto de Altos Estudios Sociales, Universidad de San Martin, working on her project, "Scientific Education in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile (1870-1930).

International Graduate Research Fellowships provide graduate students a meaningful research experience in an international context, broadening the student’s knowledge and perspective. The fellowships take advantage of ongoing collaborations between UMD faculty and their international colleagues, and, through graduate student exchange, enhance those collaborations. 

This fellowship supports UMD students who are interested in conducting collaborative research abroad with international colleagues.
