Soergel, Villani Will Lead Conference At Cambridge

Prof. Stefano Villani and Philip Soergel will attend a conference at Girton College, Cambridge University.

Professors Stefano Villani and Philip Soergel will attend a conference at Girton College, Cambridge University, from September 30th to October 1st, 2016. Professor Villani organized the conference, which is entitled "Converting Europe: Protestant Missions, Propaganda and Literature from the British Isles (1600-1900)," with Dr. Simone Maghenzani (Girton College).

Professor Villani will introduce the conference with his co-organizer and will present his paper, "Converting the Pope: seventeenth-century Quaker Missions in the Mediterranean," at Stanley Library in Girton College in the session, Catholic Europe: A British Missionary Land, chaired by Prof. Alexandra Walsham (Trinity College, Cambridge). He will be joined by professors from Girton College (Cambridge), Yale University, and St. John's College (Cambridge).

Professor Soergel will chair the Imagining Protestant Networks group with professors from Ca' Foscari University (Venice) and the University of Tokyo.
