Dr. Consuelo Naranjo Orvovio obtained her Ph.D. in History and Geography at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid in 1988. She is currently a Professor and Director at the History Institute (CSIC). She directed the publication of the multivolume Coleccion Historia de las Antillas and is a member of several editorial boards of international scientific journals, such as Revista de Indias, and Culture & History, among others. She is the author of several books, scientific monographs, articles, and book chapters. She is a member of the Academia de Historia de Cuba and the Academia Mexicana de Ciencias.
