British Historian Julie Taddeo On Broadway

Dr. Julie Taddeo spoke to the cast and staff of My Fair Lady at Lincoln Center in New York to give historical and social context for the era in which the play takes place. See www.lct.org/explore/blog/higgins-isnt-only-professor-rehearsal

Dr. Julie Taddeo recently spent the day with the cast of My Fair Lady opening in New York next month.  Seen here with Dame Diana Rigg of Game of Thrones and Avengers fame, Dr. Taddeo talked with the cast about the Edwardian period of British history  in which the play occurs. She talked with the enthusiastic group about everything from the class system to changing technologies, sex, and socialism. Tony award winning actress Rigg, who plays Henry Higgins' mother, is joined by an all-star cast.     This 2018 Broadway revival of  My Fair Lady is directed by Tony winner Bartlett Sher and is scheduled to begin previews on March 15 with an opening set for April 19 at Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beaumont Theater. Sher's version  promises to be true to Shaw's original play that was first performed on the London stage in 1914.
