Former PhD student Darren Speece has written an Op-Ed discussing protesting in the Trump Era v. during the Redwood Wars, which has been featured in Salon. He guides protesters that have been active since the swearing in of President Trump to look to the protests of environmentalists protecting the redwood forests in California in the nineteenth century as a guide to knowing how to organize in the future. In the Op-Ed, Speece examines the methods and history of protests during the Redwood Wars to model for present-day protesters taking a stand against President Trump.
