Professor Alison Olson has published three monographs, co-edited and contributed to two volumes of essays, and authored numerous articles. She has received numerous fellowships, among them a John Simon Guggenheim, as well as grants from ACLS, AAUW, the Folger Institute, and the Research Center for Arts and Humanities. She was selected as Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar in 1976. Professor Olson was also the recipient of a Distinguished Faculty Fellowship in 1993-94. Previously she had been named Distinguished Scholar Teacher (1987) and the IFC and Pan-Hellenic Council's Outstanding Teacher of the Year (1988). Professor Olson has headed the Board of Editors of the William and Mary Quarterly (1986-88) and has been a member of the Council of the Institute of Early American History and of the Advisory Board of the Philadelphia Center of Early American Studies. She has also directed the Honors Program of the Department of History.
