Daniel Richter is a Lecturer in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Maryland. He received his doctorate from UMD in Latin American history in 2016.
Dr. Richter teaches various interdisciplinary courses about Latin American cinema, migration cinema, and other topics related to global cinematic genres.His research explores Latin American urban culture, Argentine and Uruguayan cinema, and the recent intertwined histories of metropolitan Buenos Aires and Miami, He is currently revising for publication his book manuscript, "Symbiotic Cities: Buenos Aires, Montevideo, and Mass Culture, 1910-1960" and his published work includes articles in the Journal of Urban History, the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Latin American History, and the Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies. His research and teaching have been supported as a Fulbright professor in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2022 and previously by the Uruguayan Fulbright Commission and numerous fellowships from UMD.
