Study Abroad

The Department of History at the University of Maryland has a student exchange program with the Department of History at the University of Liverpool.

Liverpool is especially strong in ancient and medieval history, as well as European, British, Latin American, African, Middle Eastern and East Asian history. Liverpool is an interesting city about the size of Baltimore and within easy reach of the beautiful mountains of north Wales and sites of the British industrial revolution in Manchester and Lancashire.

Maryland sends one or two students a year to study at Liverpool. To apply you must be a History major, have at least a 3.0 GPA and be willing to study at Liverpool for a full academic year. Since the British degree is more specialized than ours, this is a wonderful opportunity to study history intensively.

If you are selected for the exchange, you will receive a tuition scholarship. Your expenses for room, board, air fare and miscellaneous expenses will be approximately $9,000-$10,000 per year.
