Evan R. Ash is a Ph.D. student focusing on visual culture and the history of childhood in early-to-mid twentieth century America.  His dissertation proposal, "The Strange and Baffling Eyes of Youth: Comic Books and the Moral Landscape of Twentieth Century America", examines debates over childhood and child rearing intersected with the growing turn to mass culture and the cultures of Fordism in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s.
