Chris Tomlins (UCI) will offer a workshop on his paper "Debt, Death and Redemption: Toward a Soterial-Legal History of the Turner Rebellion".

Professor Tomlins's latest book, Freedom Bound. Law Labor and Civic Identity in Colonizing English America, 1580-1865 (Cambridge: Cambridge UP, 2010) won the Bancroft Prize in 2011.
