As part of the Elahe Omidyar Mir-Djalali Speaker Series, The Roshan Institute for Persian Studies in collaboration with The Miller Center for Historical Studies presents The Long War on Iran: How Did We Get Here? by Behrooz Ghamari-Tabrizi


Behrooz Ghamari is affiliated with the Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Institute of Iranian Studies at the University of Toronto. He was Professor and Chair of the Department of Near Eastern Studies and Director of the Center for Iran and Persian Gulf Studies at Princeton University from 2020 to 2024. He is the author of three books on different aspects and historical context of the Iranian revolution of 1979 and its aftermath: Islam and Dissent in Post-Revolutionary Iran (2008); Foucault in Iran: Islamic Revolution after the Enlightenment (2016); and Remembering Akbar: Inside the Iranian Revolution (2016). His latest book is The Long War on Iran (2025), a collection of his essays he wrote over the past two decades.
