History Major Joanna Suriani Finalist For University Medal

The University Medal is awarded to the undergraduate who best personifies academic distinction, extraordinary character, and extracurricular contributions to the University and the larger public.

JoAnna Suriani is a finalist for this prize, which is given to the most outstanding graduate of each academic year. The University Medal is awarded to the undergraduate who best personifies academic distinction, extraordinary character, and extracurricular contributions to the University and the larger public.

JoAnna Suriani is a senior History and Government & Politics major. A native of Trumbull, Connecticut, JoAnna has focused her studies in history on United States and Western European political and social movements. Her senior capstone paper analyzed the political, financial, and activist influences on the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002. JoAnna has complimented her studies with numerous internships in federal and state government in Washington, D.C. and Annapolis.
 
JoAnna is excited to continue her graduate studies at the University of Maryland by pursuing a Master of Public Policy with a concentration in social policy. She hopes to hold a future career working with social justice issues such as racial and gender equality, poverty alleviation, consumer protection, and campaign finance reform.

JoAnna is graduating summa cum laude and is honored to be a finalist for the University Medal.
