History major Rachel Blaszkowsky '18 was recognized for her exceptional work for the United States Navy with a letter of appreciation.

Rachel took on an internship at Naval History and Heritage Command this past semester, writing abstracts and information sheets for oral histories conducted by the command. In an article for the The Sextant, Rachel said her internship "allowed [her] to step outside of [her] Army bubble and broaden [her] horizons."

Rachel is also an Army ROTC Cadet, so she was initially wary about taking on an internship at the Navy. "The Army and the Navy are longtime rivals and the idea of working in “enemy” territory gave me reason to pause. I am very happy that I did not pause for long, because the last four months I spent as an intern at NHHC have been priceless," she said.

Rachel's hard work was truly recognized in her letter of appreciation. Her immediate supervisor, Dr. John Sherwood, said "Cadet Blaszkowsky was one of the most serious-minded, hard-working, and diligent interns I have ever supervised in my 20 years with the command." Her dedication "saved the command over 22 days of labor."
