William Soergel, a double major in History and Classics, has been chosen to receive one of the 2016-17 Dean’s Senior Scholar Awards in the College of Arts and Humanities.
William (“Will”) Soergel, a double major in History and Classics, has been chosen to receive one of the 2016-17 Dean’s Senior Scholar Awards in the College of Arts and Humanities. Soergel’s nomination from the Classics Department cited his many contributions to the campus community, including his leadership in the Classics Club, the Lavender Leadership Honors Society, and the discussion and support group Bisexuals at Maryland. Soergel was recently appointed to the University of Maryland’s President’s Commission on LGBT Issues, and was invited to attend a Bisexual Awareness Week briefing at the White House. Will is completing his Honors thesis in History this year on religious influences upon the political integration of the Roman Republic and plans to attend graduate school in history in the fall of 2017.
