History of African Americans in the Era of Emancipation and Reconstruction.

The Department of History at the University of Maryland, College Park, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position focused on African Americans in the Era of Emancipation and Reconstruction.

The successful candidate will be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in this field of specialization and to share in teaching the introductory-level African-American history surveys (pre-1865 and/or post-1865). Applicants shousl have a broad knowledge of African American history and a demonstrated commitment to scholarly research on African Americans in the Era of Emancipation and Reconstruction.


Applicants must have their doctoral (PhD) degree in hand prior to appointment (August 1, 2024).
