Jack Werner is a Ph.D. Candidate studying U.S. foreign relations, labor, and disability in the Philippines under U.S. colonial rule. His dissertation, "The Making of Colonial Disability and Labor in the United States and the Philippines, 1898-1919," tracks colonial formations of the category of disability through various case studies, including soldiers' disability pensions, deaf and blind education, injury compensation laws, and environmental catastrophes.
