Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions are managed by the European Research Executive Agency for the European Commission.
According to their website, the program is governed by principles that "foster excellence in research and innovation collaborations, knowledge transfer, methodologies and content, as well as in training, supervision and career guidance;....support the mobility of researchers between countries, sectors and disciplines to acquire new knowledge, skills and competences;....are open to all domains of research and innovation and encourage international cooperation to set-up strategic collaborations;. . . .promote effective supervision and adequate mentoring and career guidance;....support bottom-up and frontier/applied research supporting the European Green Deal and tackling climate and environmental-related challenges."
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, as part of Horizon Europe, are the European Union’s flagship funding program for doctoral education and postdoctoral training of researchers.
Horizon Europe is a research and innovation funding program in its second phase, running 2021-7. The first phase ran 2014-20. According to their website, the program "tackles climate change, helps to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth. The programme facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. It supports creating and better dispersing of excellent knowledge and technologies. It creates jobs, fully engages the EU’s talent pool, boosts economic growth, promotes industrial competitiveness and optimises investment impact within a strengthened European Research Area."
