This course examines Latin American politics, culture, and economic from 1820 to the present. We ask how women, indigenous peoples, Afro-Latin Americans, immigrants, workers, and the poor were incorporated into the emerging nations. What role did social movements and revolutions play? And how did relations to Europe and the United States influence events in the region?
